“One of the critical issues that we have to confront is illegal immigration, because this is a multi-headed Hydra that affects our economy, our health care, our health care, our education systems, our national security, and also our local criminality.” – Allen West
Secure Our Border
If the Federal government will not fulfill its obligations to protect its citizens, then Texas should. The war between the government of Mexico and the drug cartels are spilling over into Texas. We must do whatever it takes to preserve the well-being of our citizens. I will support legislation to build our own border fence, require E-verify statewide, and end sanctuary cities to stop the bloodshed, the drug trade, and the abuse of our education and welfare systems.
End In-State Tuition for Illegal Immigrants
It was appalling when the local news covered an illegal immigrant who was running for Texas A&M Student Body President. Taxpayers are subsidizing the education of those who are here illegally and may not even be paying taxes. I will support legislation to end this program.
Adopt English as the Official Language of Texas
Declaring English the official language means that official government business at all levels must be conducted solely in English. This includes all public documents, records, legislation and regulations, as well as hearings, official ceremonies and public meetings. Passage of English as the official language will help to expand opportunities for immigrants to learn and speak English, the single greatest empowering tool that immigrants must have to succeed.
Challenge Plyler v. Doe
The 1975 Plyler v. Doe is a decision that prevents Texas from denying access to free public education to illegal immigrants in Texas. I will support challenging this ruling, and include legislation that requires verifying citizenship status of all students in all Texas public schools. Taxpayer dollars should benefit taxpayers and residents of Texas.
